Alterations and Improvements
Tenants have to have the Association’s consent to carry out any alterations or improvements to the property. This includes work such as installing a shower or laying laminate flooring. Applications for the Association's consent need to be made on the relevant form for laminate flooring, installing a shower, installation of a satellite dish, installation or alteration of a kitchen. If your alteration is for something else, please complete the general form. You may be entitled to compensation at the end of your tenancy for some alterations, subject to certain conditions as set out in the Housing Scotland Act 2001.
Before the Association can agree to your application, our Maintenance Officer may need to visit you to discuss further with you some of the details. We may also request further information on materials you propose to use. The Form will state any conditions on which the consent is given and the form must be signed and returned to the Association. If we are in agreement to the works, we will then sign the form and return it to you with a copy of the conditions for your records. Approval is only valid for 6 months from the date we sign the form and if the work is not carried out within this timescale, the approval will expire and you will need to apply again for consent.
Please note that the Association will not give consent for alterations funded by the Green Deal.
