Disposing of Rubbish
The Association is receiving an increasing number of reports of infestations of rats, mice and other vermin. These are attracted to rubbish not only as a source of food but also for nesting.
It is extremely important that everyone disposes of their household refuse and bulky items are disposed of properly and as quickly as possible.
Household rubbish - must be properly secured in suitable bin bags and placed in the bin. If the bin is full DO NOT simply dump the bag in the bin store, backcourt or in the close.
Bulk uplifts - if you need to get rid of bulky items such as old furniture you muct make an arrangement with Glasgow City Councll's Cleansing Department to have
it uplifted but please note;
- The bulk uplift service is for the odd item and is not intended to be used for full flat clearances. If you have a large amount of items to be uplifted, you must organise for these items to be uplifted by another organisation or take the items to the local refuse centre
- Glasgow City Council can take up to 28 days to remove bulk items so please consider this when placing the items into the back court
- Bulk items should be placed in the back court by the bin store (not inside the bin store) in a location that does not obstruct access to the bin store, washing lines or paths. Please do not put your bulk items directly against the building as this is a fire hazard.
Cleansing will NOT accept a request for an uplift from the Association and it is therefore the individual householder's responsibility.
Don't forget that large household items can also be donated to charity for recycling
