Lodgers and Sub Letting 


Tenants can apply to take in a lodger.  A lodger is someone who will share some of the rooms in the tenancy with you.  When your lodger is staying with you we expect that you also use the tenancy as your only and principal home, i.e. you would both be living in the tenancy at the same time.

Sub Letting 

Tenants can apply to sub let their tenancy.  A sub tenant is someone who will use your tenancy during a period where you may have a need to be away from your tenancy, working and living abroad for example.  At the end of the sub let period the tenant must either return to the tenancy or terminate it.  The maximum sub let period is 12 months.    

Policy and Procedures for receiving and processing applications

The Association's Policy on Lodgers and subletting is contained within our Tenancy Matters Policy, a copy of which can be viewed here.

To compliment this Policy we have in place detailed procedures that staff follow when applications are received.  Once an application has been received it will be acknowledged within 2 working days and a decision made with 28 days of receipt.  Written decisions are provided to the tenant.

Applications for permission to sub let the tenancy are considered by our management committee.  Should you wish to apply to sub let your tenancy an application form would need to be complete and submitted to us.  You can download a copy of the form here.  Alternatively please contact our office to obtain one.
